Hair's The Thing: MAY-keover With Mom!
I want to celebrate women and May is for makeovers! Whether you're a mom, daughter, sister, or wife, this is the month to think of making some slight changes in your hair style, color, cut, or all three!
Don't get me wrong, it's not about changing who you are. Changing up your look is always about amplifying who you are. Everyone has different aspects of their self and their personality, and May brings the opportunity for new beginnings, to embrace parts of you that aren't always expressed. To reveal yourself anew.
Color: Right now seems to be trending toward brighter, lighter colors that melt light, medium, and darker hues (think ombré and boliage), with a fresher approach of adding a shadow root line to create a grown-out look.
For blondes, it can range from natural blonde to a peachy rose gold or a gray blonde. If you're a light enough blonde and feeling adventurous, you can go with unicorn colors!
For brunettes, I'm seeing a lot of "brondes"--ash and mocha hues with blonde ends or peekaboo blonde. Also lots of tones in the brown family range from auburn to rich chocolate cherries.
For reds, I'm seeing light strawberry to coppers into true reds. You can melt them all together or go with a singular tone.
Cut & Style: This is the time of year when you're sitting in your stylist's chair to make that shift with your cut. It's almost summer, which makes me think of carefree hair. In this spirit, my guests are wanting to add more layers, or a fringe if you dare.
If you're comfortable with your length, put long layers or try some shorter ones. When it comes to texture and you have a natural wave or curl, embrace it! Save the smoothing for a special occasion. If you have straight hair, celebrate it by adding some layers, or a blunt bottom, or try a fringe!
May 2017 is here for texture!
